Communities
The magnificent landscape of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB is not simply a happy accident of geology and nature.
It has been created or shaped by the people who live here. For thousands of years our communities have moulded the landscape to meet their needs. And they continue to shape the destiny of the AONB.
It is our people who give this area its unique flavour, its culture and its heritage, accumulated over many generations.
Every community has a tale to tell. Helping people to be aware of how they fit into the long history of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley, to reconnect with their own past, is an important part of what we do.
We’ve worked with a number of villages who wanted to write their own histories. We’ve helped them to conduct research, sift archives, collect irreplaceable old photographs and gather memories.
The result is a series of fascinating booklets about community life in one of Britain’s most treasured landscapes.
